It’s New and Exciting: UP Mountain Bike Week

Marquette/Negaunee/Ishpeming to the Keweenaw – August 8th to August 17th

We are in the construction phase of developing a great week-long list of opportunities for mountain bikers with discounts for lodging, activities and other amenities here in the UP.

Imagine a week of mountain biking and exploring the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan flanked by two long distance mountain bike events.  The Marquette General Health System – Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic and the Aspirus Keweenaw  Great Deer Chase Mountain Bike Race are teaming up to offer you great opportunities for biking, lodging, and activities in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan during the week of August 8th through 17th.  The UP Mountain Bike Week offers riders of both races opportunities to receive reduced rates on lodging and activities in the areas.   The week begins with the Marquette General Health System-Ore To Shore Mountain Bike Epic (O2S), Michigan’s Largest Mass Start Point-to-Point Race on August 9th.   The O2S offers 48 mile, 28 mile, and 10 mile versions of a course which follows the Noquemanon Ski Race trail system through the historic iron ore mining towns and woods from Negaunee/Ishpeming to the shores of Lake Superior in Marquette.  The Aspirus Keweenaw Great Deer Chase offers a 28 mile and 15 mile primarily single track experience through the Swedetown Trail System starting and ending at the historic copper boom town of Calumet on the Keweenaw Peninsula.  The Keweenaw, a land mass jutting up into the heart of Lake Superior, is home to the Keweenaw National Historic Park .  Both races, although different in design, offer something for everyone including youth events.

To receive the discounts, bikers must register for both races through their respective on-line race registration formats: and

Keep  paper copies of the registration confirmations as proof of registration. Contact the lodging and activity locations directly to make reservations and present both registration confirmations at check in for lodging and activities. (Youth race registrations do not qualify for discounts)
