2017 Great Deer Chase FAQs

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at the 2017 Aspirus Keweenaw Great Deer Chase. Whether you are racing, volunteering, or spectating it is looking like a great day for a mountain bike race with the forecast promising sunny skies and a temperature of 75.

For race day, here are a couple of FAQs:

When is registration and bib pick up?

Registration and bib pick-up will be open from 6:30 to 8:00p, Friday, August 18th and 9:00 to 10:00a, Saturday, August 19th at Cross Country Sports, 507 Oak Street, Calumet.

Kids race registration is from 6:30 to 8:00p on Friday, August 18th and to 7:30 to 8:30a on Saturday, August 19th.

Can I switch races or give my registration to someone else?

Yes, you can! To switch from one event to another there will be a $5 fee (i.e. same person moving from short race to long). If you wish to transfer your entry to someone else it will be a $10 fee. If you know you want to switch events, please do so as soon as possible to give our registration and timing volunteers enough time to shuffle things around.

Where does the 15- and 30-mile race start and end?

The 15- and 30-mile races will start at 11:00a at the Calumet Colosseum on the east side the building. The races will finish on Oak Street near the intersection of Oak and 6th streets.

Where do the kid’s races start and end?

The timed kid’s races (2- and 4-mile) will start at the Swedetown Chalet at 9:00a. They will finish on Oak St. near the intersection of Oak and 7th street (in front of Carmelitas). The 40-yard untimed race will take place on Oak St. in front of Carmelitas, using the timed finish line as their finish line.

Is there somewhere I can shower?

There sure is! Showers are located at the Calumet Colosseum.

When and where are the awards?

The awards for both the kid’s and adult races will take place at 2:30p in between the Michigan House and Cross Country Sports on Oak Street.

Can I get my award mailed to me?

Unfortunately, no.

Where’s a good place to get food?

Any of the restaurants listed on the back of your Bambo bucks! The Michigan House, Carmelitas, Rosetta’s Cafe, 5th and Elm Coffee House, Keweenaw Coffee Works, and Jim’s Pizza are all super close and great places to grab a bite to eat or a cup of coffee.
